Day 9
Route: Galgate to Whitchurch - 83 miles
Yes that’s right boys and girls we have done another 80 plus mile day.
The plan today was to get past the grimness of the North of England as soon as possible
So the mornings ride was all Northern desolation as we had to pass through Preston Wigan and Warrington
Northerns I have noticed like loud exhausts and loud stereos whereas the ladies like clothes that are 2 sizes too small, fake tan and push-chairs.
On the ride down we had an incident with a
Northern which I shall recount to you now
dear reader.
As we rode along a P reg Micra sped up to
us and without slowing the passenger door
started to open ( I don’t think winding
windows have got to the north yet, either that
or the northern inside couldn’t cope with too
many handles and switches in his door
panel). With the door half open the Northern
freshly pink from yesterdays sun, cigarette
delicately balanced between his lips
screamed these words of wit and wisdom
to us, “GERRACUR” now I presume that this
is some form of northern encouragement
and greeting along the lines of “Well done
chaps , keep it up” if anyone of the Northern
persuasion can provide a more literal
translation then please leave a message
on the site. The poor soul after wishing us
well sadly managed to catch the third stripe
of his exquisitely tailored outer garment on
the door as he slammed it shut.
Anyway once the grimness was over we
emerged into gloriously rolling countryside,
a bit too rolling for the time of day really but
you can’t have it all can you?
Little Prince update
He rode over 80 miles in a day again - but
this time we were finished by half past
seven.
But by god that boy drinks some water, he
took on more today than the Titanic . I’m
hoping it doesn’t catch up with him later but
I will be wearing my water wings in the room
later just in case.
