Day 6

Route: Tarbet to Abington - 84 miles

Yes just read that again 84 miles!

Managed to get the tent posted back with no problems as handily the B&B was next door to the post office, so hopefully no more broken pannier issues for me.

Glasgow was a huge disappointment

I wanted deprivation, drunken Neds

wandering around beating up old

ladies and having to dodge used

needles all over the road. What do I

get a lovely cycle path alongside the

Clyde with nesting Swans and

everything.

Happily all my misconceptions

weren’t quashed as we stopped to

buy lunch in Clydebank, Mr Darwin

I’m afraid we are going to need to

have words when I got back and you

may have to put pen to paper again.

Through Glasgow with very little

incident (slight tiff about map reading

soon solved by me speeding off ).

Then through a few rough places at

speed and back to pleasant

countryside. The lowlands have a

more rolling aspect to them without

the spectacular views, however I can

assure you that up is still very

definitely up.

We wanted a big day today so kept

going a bit later than usual only to

run out of places to stay so had to

ride till 11 to find a hotel as there

were no B&Bs except the pikey

looking one that the Little Prince

rejected.

Food update

Fried Breakfast

Panini and carrot cake (not together)

KFC

And every midge in Scotland over the

last couple of hours of the ride.

Little Prince Update

The Little Prince had a puncture

today and fixed it himself like a

proper grown up.

He doesn’t look well now

(does ginger ever look well?) so

we’ll see how things look in the

morning.
